Matt returned on a permanent basis in the summer after an impressive loan spell with the U's towards the end of 2007/8.
Having been a first team regular in the first half of the campaign with Leeds United, he fell out of favour upon Gary McAllister's arrival and after settling quickly into life with the U's, the former Leicester and Coventry centre half was more than happy to return to Colchester for their first season in their new stadium.
