Lee Harrison has joined the U’s as a goalkeeper coach; Matt Bloomfield’s first staffing appointment arriving from Wycombe Wanderers.
Harrison played as a goalkeeper for a range of clubs, including Fulham, Leyton Orient, Peterborough and Barnet. The shot stopper accumulated over 450 appearances throughout the course of his career. He also won Barnet’s player of the year in three consecutive seasons, a club he returned to in 2006 to become player/coach and was appointed club captain in 2007.
As a coach, Harrison has been involved with Newport County, West Ham United, Leyton Orient and Wycombe Wanderers. He was assistant manager at Newport under Anthony Hudson, he then moved to Wycombe and took a permanent role, where he was also listed as a player. In 2014 however, he left the Chairboys for West Ham, but after a stint at Leyton Orient he found himself back at Wycombe in 2021.
