Matty Etherington was promoted to First Team Head Coach at the end of November following Ben Garner's departure from Colchester United.

Etherington intially joined the club as U21s Lead Coach, and was initially placed in charge of First Team affairs at the end of October 2023 following Ben Garner's departure.

A run that saw the side pick up three wins and a draw in Matty's four games in interim charge saw him promoted to take the job permanently on 16th November.

Matty's previous experience as a coach includes time with Peterborough United's youngsters, from 2016 to 2022, before a short stint as Crawley Town's boss in 2022.

Etherington made close to 500 appearances across all four professional divisions in England, with the majority of those coming in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Stoke City.

Twice a runner-up in the FA Cup, Etherington netted forty-three goals across his professional career, making a handful of outings in European competitions too.
