Brendan rejoined the U's on a permanent basis after leaving parent club Charlton Athletic in the January transfer window.
Sarpong-Wiredu had previously spent time on loan at Colchested United at the start of the 2019/20 season, making ten appearances in all competitions for the U's.
Coming through the academy at Charlton Athletic, he made six apprearances for the Addicks between 2018 and 2020.
A versatile midfielder, Brendan can also play at full back or wing back if required, and will be a key addition to the squad going forwards.
