Ashley signed for the U's after a successful trial period during the summer of 2022.
The versatile midfielder has been on the books at a number of London clubs including Fulham, AFC Wimbledon and most recently West Ham United before his switch to Colchester United.
Making his professional debut for AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy in 2017, Ashley has made appearances in the same competition for West Ham United, including a game here at the JobServe Community Stadium during the 2021/22 season.
Spending time with the U's on trial during pre-season, he was awarded a one-year contract with the club for the 2022/23 campaign.
