Brian's Back With U's

20 December 2012

Experienced scout back on the books.

U's boss Joe Dunne has confirmed that club stalwart Brian Owen is to return to the club, taking on the role of Chief Scout.

Brian, who has spent many years with the club both as a scout, a member of the coaching staff and as U's physio, was part of the management staff that helped former boss Phil Parkinson with the promotion winning squad of 2005/6.

And Joe was delighted to get him back at the club and add his invaluable experience to the U's backroom team.

"We have a fantastic Academy that is being run exceptionally well and I want to put things in place that creates a smooth transition through the club.

"I want this club to regain the tradition of having Colchester people in and amongst it.

"His valuable knowledge of players is immense and he will be a great addition to the staff.

"He knows everybody in the game and it will be great for everyone here to meet him for the first time.

He said: Restructuring scouting will mean that I get the impact that I want. Brian is back to the club as a Chief Recruitment Scout, and he is a wise old man who can offer a lot of opinion, which will help me as a young manager. "I know these people will run a mile and will run through a brick wall for you. I want people who will work extremely hard, know what it means to represent a club and Brian typifies that."
