R's Reverse For U21s

17 December 2012

Heavy defeat in latest match.

The U's U21s endured a difficult afternoon in West London as they fell to an 8-2 defeat in their latest fixture.

Freddie Ladapo grabbed both of the U's goals, but the goals were a small consolation in a tough match against a QPR side that featured the experience of Tal Ben Haim and Junior Hoilett.

It was former Blackburn man Hoilett who put the home side ahead after just four minutes and it did not take too much longer for Mo Shariff to double their advantage.

Jordan Sanderson, who had scored in the U's last U21s game against Millwall, twice came close for the visitors, but the chances were to prove to be temporary respite as Rangers extended their advantage.

Midway through the half, Shariff got his second, before turning provider and getting Hoilett in on goal for his second and Rangers fourth after just twenty-five minutes.

And the winger made it five on thirty-three minutes, tapping home the rebound after a free kick came back off the crossbar.

The U's pulled one back through Ladapo just before the break, but went in at half-time four goals adrift.

After the break, the goals continued as Doughty scored the goal of the game with a dipping volley from distance to make it 6-1.

First teamer Samba Diakite spurned the chance to make it seven when he struck his penalty over the crossbar, but Tom Hitchcock made it seven and substitute Petrasso made it eight after coming off the bench.

The U's were to have the final goal of the game, though, as Ladapo grabbed a consolation.
