U's Flash: Porter Signs

31 December 2012

Young attacker joins on loan.

The U's have made another move into the loan market ahead of the January transfer window opening, signing George Porter from Burnley.

The 20-year-old, who signed for the Clarets in the summer, has joined the U's on a youth loan until the end of the season.

Porter started his career with Leyton Orient, having impressed on trial from non-league side Cray Wanderers.

He was a popular player with the O's and his dynamic performances both on the wing and up front saw Burnley move for him in July.

He suffered an injury at the start of the season and, after a change of manager at the Clarets, is still awaiting his first appearance at that level.

Boss Joe Dunne told the official website: "George is a very quick young player, who has great attacking qualities.

"He has caused us many problems in the past when he was playing for Leyton Orient and we are pleased to have him in the building in terms of adding quality and hunger to the team."

George's loan move will be completed subject to the necessary paperwork clearance.
