Young U's begin pre-season schedule.
The U's youth team have got their pre-season match schedule underway.
Shenfield High School provided the opposition, further strengthening the connection between the U's and its south Essex development centre.
John McGreal took charge of proceedings and was pleased with how the game went.
"It was a great workout for the lads and they certainly put into practice a lot of what we have worked on in the past couple of weeks in training."
"We have asked them to keep good possession and take care of their passing and Shenfield found it hard to get any foothold in the game.
"The result isn't the priority at this stage but the boys want to win every game and we scored five goals without reply so they came off happy.
He told the official website: "We as coaches were more interested in them performing well and building up their fitness levels and we were pleased on both counts.
