U's help out Shrewsbury fan.

Colchester United's players have come in for praise for their actions at Shrewsbury Town at the weekend.

During the half time interval at the Greenhous Meadow, young Shrews fan Joe Phasey was hit in the face by a mis-struck shot from U's loanee Sanchez Watt.

Sanchez, along with fellow substitute Clinton Morrison, hopped the fence to go up into the stands and check that Joe was OK, before handing over one of Sanchez' shirts from the day along with a U's matchball.

And nine-year-old Joe watched on as Sanchez was introduced as a second half substitute and notched another goal for the U's.

Joe's mum Pamela Sherwood told the Gazette: "I was so impressed by what happened. Joe was initially really shocked by what happened, but he was fine after the incident.

"What happened afterwards was lovely to see and Joe was so chuffed.

"He's now going to follow their progress closely, and I think Joe is now a converted Colchester United fan!

"I'd like to say a big thanks to Colchester, the team are a credit to football and my son will never forget the fuss they made of him."
