Shuttle Bus Service Boost

28 November 2012

New route added as service develops.

The U's have added yet another new shuttle bus route to their hugely successful matchday service.

Following feedback from existing supporters and discussions with the local Army garrisons, the new bus route will take in a whole new section of town, making it easier than ever for fans to get to games.

"We are continually aiming to enhance what has been a very successful part of the matchday experience over the last few years," Media Manager Matt Hudson told the official website.

"The new route should hopefully make it easier for our much respected military personnel to get to games - a match ticket plus return travel on the shuttle bus for a serving Forces member is just £15.

"The route also takes in a part of town not currently served by our shuttle bus service, so we hope it'll be very popular."

The new route starts out at Homefield Road just off Layer Road, within the area largely populated by Forces personnel.

It then travels through St Michaels and Monkwick, before turning onto Mersea Road towards town, passing by The Willows and the Barn Hall estate near to Colchester Cemetery.

Its final stops are adjacent to Pownall Crescent and Napier Road, before it then goes onto the stadium, avoiding the town centre itself.

The bus leaves Homefield Road at 1.30pm, reaching Pownall Crescent at 1.45pm and getting to the stadium just before 2pm on a Saturday kick-off.

Full timetable details will be confirmed soon.
