Six Up For Macauley

5 November 2012

Youth striker sets U18s record.

The U's goalfest against Camberley Town on Friday night saw the club's youngsters hit new heights - and break a record or two, too.

Tony Humes' boys hit thirteen against the non-leaguers, with six in the first half and seven in the second in a convincing performance across the ninety minutes.

The result was the first time in which a U's U18s side have recorded double figures in the FA Youth Cup and the first time that the youth side have hit double figures since 1992.

And it was a night to remember for front man Macauley Bonne.

The teenage forward struck a double hat-trick to become the first to do so in the FA Youth Cup and equal the known highest total of six goals in a single fixture by a youth team player.

The other U's youngsters to strike that many were Dick Cullum in 1947, Julian Dart in 1992 and Justin Booty, also in 1992.

The U's U18s have only struck double figures on nine previous occasions in their history, five of which came in the 1991/2 season.

The boys will face Faversham in the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup, with the date of the match to be confirmed.
