League review full of positives.
Colchester United's matchday experience has come in for glowing praise in a Football League report issued this week.
The League sent families to football clubs around the country to assess the quality of a day out at their local team.
And the U's offer at the Weston Homes Community Stadium passed with flying colours with many parts of the matchday experience given a big thumbs up by their 'mystery shoppers'.
The ease of getting to the stadium was applauded, whilst the safe and welcoming atmosphere from staff and fellow supporters alike was something that struck a chord with the family, who attended the U’s 3-1 win over Hartlepool United earlier in the season.
What's more, the U’s matchday programme came in for praise as being great value for money and the food on offer at the Weston Homes – which was changed last season on the back of existing fans' feedback – was lauded as 'excellent and much, much better than expected'.
"We are delighted with the results of this first visit by the League’s chosen family," U’s General Manager Tim Waddington said.
"Nearly two years ago now, we conducted a wide ranging survey with our supporters about all areas of the matchday experience.
"We took on board those comments and have worked hard across the club to improve the experience on offer and so to hear some of the comments made is exceptionally pleasing.
"That’s not to say we're resting on our laurels. We are continuing to look at the different ways in which we can make things even better and we would always welcome further comments and observations from fans new and old about their visits to the Weston Homes Community Stadium."
Matchdays at the stadium represent great value, with a family of four able to attend for as little as £42.
