Maintain The Intensity

5 October 2012

Joe wants more of the same at Yeovil.

"The work we do has to be intense. If we back off, we will fall behind. I want competition for places and I want competition among the staff that the sessions we put on are positive, to ensure that we push on.

Having already seen the U's lose 3-0 in the Capital One Cup earlier this season, the U's boss said: "It has been a good week, a hard week and that's what we want to do - we want our players to work hard.

Joe has overseen two victories in two games since taking over as permanent manager last week - but knows his team can't afford to rest on their laurels when they head to Huish Park.

U's boss Joe Dunne is looking for his side to provide more of the same when they travel to Yeovil this weekend.

"Our sessions are short and intense, as I want freshness about us when we finish. We have been busy looking at recovery strategies and, within a short period of time, the players already know how we'll work during the week."

With a brace of wins under their belt in the past seven days, the U's travel to take on a Yeovil side that have lost their last six games in League One to find themselves level with the U's on points.

However, Joe insists his focus is purely on his own side as they look to continue their climb up the table.

He added: "That run doesn't interest me, it is about the game on the day.

"My focus is on working on how we prepare, how we turn up and how we play on the day.

"I believe that we must focus on our strengths and do what's right for us.

"My main goal for me when I took over was to push for confidence and self belief and have competition for places.

"The wins help the mood ahead of Yeovil, and that has to continue, but we can't afford to relax for one moment."
