The U’s made just the one change to the starting eleven, which was enforced after Anthony Wordsworth was banned for picking up five yellow cards. Karl Duguid came in to replace him in the three in midfield.

There is spirit and determination in this U's side and they remain a team with genuine hopes of pushing up the table in the next part of the season with their all action style, only a month into Joe Dunne's reign.

But amidst the frustration of missing out on another win, the U's should be proud of another battling display that ensured they have still only lost once in the league under Joe Dunne.

The visitors looked like they were in control and heading for another impressive win and shut-out in Shropshire thanks to goals from Craig Eastmond and Sanchez Watt, but the Salop pegged them back in the latter stages of the match.

The U's were left to rue two late set pieces on Saturday, as Shrewsbury grabbed a point with two late goals in a storming match at the Greenhous Meadow.

Having seen off some early pressure, the U’s took the lead after just three minutes. A short free kick from Rose found Eastmond, who had time to place a shot off the inside of the post past Weale.

In a similar situation at the other end, the U’s marshalled two Shrewsbury forwards excellently to quell what looked like a dangerous attack, eventually forcing the ball out of play.

The home side had recovered well from going behind, though, moving the ball around nicely and trying to test their opposition, who kept their defensive shape well.

They were giving the U’s plenty to think about, though, with captain Rose getting some timely interceptions in for the visitors.

The U’s were next to attempt to score, though, with a shot from Duguid and a follow-up from Eastmond both blocked by resolute home defending.

Taylor was the man making things happen for Salop and he cut in off the right wing and drifted across the edge of the box before curling a shot only inches wide.

The home side were growing into the match and that man Taylor sent over another dangerous cross that dropped to Helan, but he lifted his effort well over the bar.

Having ridden some Shrewsbury pressure, the U’s then had a chance of their own, as Wilson stepped out of defence and curled an effort just over the bar.

Eastmond then broke out of his role in midfield to venture towards the Shrewsbury box and evaded a couple of tackles as he got into the box. He opted not to shoot and eventually ran out of space.

The U’s went in ahead at the break but Jacobson’s swift one two with Proctor saw him get in on goal, but Cousins stood strong to see it away.

The visitors went down the other end and a good combination between Wilson and Henderson saw the latter step across the defence and curl one just wide of goal.

The home side had come out all guns blazing though and they hit the U’s on the counter ten minutes into the second half, and the dangerous Taylor made the most of some space to curl the ball agonisingly wide.

The game was an open one and, after Eastmond had scuffed his initial shot, Wilson snapped up the  rebound to force a good stop out of Weale.

The U’s made their first change just shy of the hour mark, introducing the returning Sanchez Watt in place of Gavin Massey.

And the substitution paid instant dividends as the U’s doubled their advantage three minutes after his introduction.

The Shrews were on the attack, but Henderson snaffled up a loose ball and sent Watt away down the right.

It was a pure footrace between Watt and Richards and there was only one winner, with Watt driving forward from inside his own half before rifling into the top corner.

Duguid then made the most of some good work by Ibehre as he curled one inches wide of the far post as the U’s sought a game clinching goal.

The home side gave themselves a lifeline with twelve minutes to go though, from a corner, as it appeared to drop in off a U’s man and find the far side netting with Cousins beaten.

Ibehre then tested Weale at his near post but it wasn't to be and it's four points this week from two away days.

The U's then nearly had a chance of their own, as Eastmond stepped onto a free kick and curled in a shot that Weale just held onto with U's players lingering.

It could have been 3-2 to the home side though as Helan got to the byline and cut back for the unmarked Taylor, but he lashed his effort miles over the crossbar.

The U's made their final change as they looked to turn the game in their favour once again, with Freddie Sears coming for the last seven minutes to replace Henderson.

They were then level within a matter of minutes from another set piece, as Hall rose highest to power home a header and bring the scores back to 2-2.
