Ex-Services Visit The U's

18 September 2012

Inside Right project at WHCS

Prior to tonight’s match against Crawley Town, the U’s and their Community Sports Trust have been working hard with ex-Military personnel.

The 'Inside Right' programme is a programme run by the Football Foundation using the hook of football and appeal of professional football clubs.

Inside Right aims to reach isolated young ex-servicemen and women, aged between 20-50, improve individual's mental health and wellbeing, and provide access to on-going support and services.

Today participants were able to socialise with one another in the community café,  receive massages from 'healing hands network' in the Imagine Centre, play football on the synthetic turf pitches plus have a photo taken on the hallowed turf of the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Colchester United, working alongside Community Sports Trust who deliver the project, are proud to be one of only two clubs in the United Kingdom alongside Everton to be running this programme on a three year pilot.

Inside Right runs every third week of the month from 10am-12pm at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
