U's Go Yellow!

26 September 2012

Players invite kids to Saturday's game.

Colchester United's players have backed Essex Air Ambulance's Go Yellow Week by paying for tickets for local school children to attend this weekend's game against Hartlepool United.

The Go Yellow Week is one of the Air Ambulance's major fundraising schemes and schools and businesses around the region have got right behind the cause over the course of the week.

And, ahead of the Essex Air Ambulance's charity collection at the match against Hartlepool, the U’s playing squad have donated 242 tickets – 11 adult and child pairs from each of the U's regular starting eleven.

The total of tickets tips a nod to the fact that the U's players have picked up just eleven yellow cards between them this season.

Their current record – which includes no red cards so far in 2012/13 – sees them as the third best behaved team in the division since things got underway in August.

"We think that Essex Air Ambulance does some fantastic work within our local community and we have already worked closely with them as one of our official charity partners in recent years," U’s General Manager Tim Waddington said.

We hope that the kids who come along on Saturday have a great day and get right behind the boys!

"The players are proud of their good disciplinary record and wanted to invite local children to the game this weekend."
