Air Of Determination

24 April 2013

Joe happy with preparations for Saturday.

The U's players have been working hard through this week - and Joe has been pleased with what he has seen from his squad ahead of the weekend's crucial fixture.

U's boss Joe Dunne believes his players are 'determined and positive' to get the result they need at Carlisle United on Saturday. "The players have been really good and we are focussed on what needs doing, and we are making sure we are all in a positive frame of mind.

He told U's Player: "We've been in every day and we have been working at the stadium on Wednesday on a bigger pitch.

"Although we didn't win last week, we got another point so that Scunthorpe have work to do against Swindon, and we have a good chance to make ourselves safe."

The U's know that if they avoid defeat, they will secure safety and another season in League One. Whilst not heading north with a draw in mind, Joe is pleased his side have a clear challenge on Saturday.

"Scunthorpe can win as long as we pick up a positive result - and a positive result is what we're aiming for.

"We've spoken about the game at training and, in a way, it's good that we have total clarity on what needs to happen.

"It helps us, because we have to get something and that's better for my team based on recent results since January. When it's absolutely necessary and when we have a clear task in hand, we've responded."
