Two Pronged Trip For Dunne

18 April 2013

U's boss touches base with Irish FA

"I will talk to the FA and the PFA over there and see if there is anything we are missing in terms of recruitment. A lot of decent Irish players have made the short hop across the Irish Sea to play in the English leagues and I want to be in pole position for the best ones."

There was another element to the trip for the U's Irish boss, with Dunne explaining: "My son Louis was called up for the Irish national squad so I thought I could make contact with the football bodies over there as well as taking in his game."

He is on a short trip to Ireland this week and has meetings planned with both the Irish FA and the Irish PFA.

Manager Joe Dunne is hoping to widen the U's recruitment net as he plans for the future at Colchester United.

Louis, who is in the U's youth set-up, was an unused sub on Tuesday night and will be hoping for match action for the Republic's U15s on Thursday.
