Young U's defender Frankie Kent will become the latest youth team player to get a taste of the first team environment when the U's take on Stevenage on Boxing Day.
Frankie's call-up comes after defender Ben Tozer was recalled by parent club Northampton Town on Monday, following the departure as manager of former U's boss Aidy Boothroyd.
Teenager Frankie, who came to Colchester from Arsenal, has recently returned from injury in both the U18s and U21s fixtures and has worn the captain's armband for the youth team this season.
Fellow youth team players Macauley Bonne and Sammie Szmodics have been in and around the first team this season and Frankie has been drafted into the squad for the game against Boro on the 26th.
