Popular fundraiser at Preston game.
Saturday's game against Preston North End sees the return of the ever popular Mascot Race here at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Over the past few years, the annual Mascot Race has been a real fans’ favourite and a bit of a headline grabber too. After all, who can forget a couple of years ago when Lion Walk’s mascot crashed into a goalpost on his way around and fractured his kneecap? It’s not a race for the faint hearted!
Once again, we have been joined by a number of mascots from across Colchester, all of whom will have raised funds for St Helena Hospice to be a part of the race on Saturday.
There’s been plenty of training going on behind the scenes and we’re sure that reigning champion and U’s favourite Eddie the Eagle will face stiff competition if he is to retain his crown at the Weston Homes.
All of the mascots will be helping in the ground collection for St. Helena Hospice at the game but all are also working to raise extra funds with work based activities for the Hospice.
