Football fans are in for a treat in February as Sir Trevor Brooking CBE visits Colchester to talk about his amazing career and raise money for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

Sir Trevor is taking part in 'An Evening with Sir Trevor Brooking' from 7.15pm on Friday 1st February. It is a rare opportunity to hear him chat about his life in football and answer questions from the audience.

Sir Trevor’s playing career spanned eighteen years including 635 appearances for West Ham United. He scored 102 goals and was twice a member of the West Ham squad that won The FA Cup.

He also played for England 47 times, scoring five goals. Sir Trevor has been a popular pundit on television and became The Football Association’s Director of Football Development in January 2004.

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity supports people living with cancer through research into new cancer treatments and an award-winning support centre in Springfield, Chelmsford.

The charity is named after the BBC sport and news presenter Helen Rollason MBE who sadly died of cancer in 1999. Sir Trevor was a good friend of Helen and he is a Vice-Patron of the charity.

He said: “I am really looking forward to talking about some of my career highlights with other football fans who share my lifelong passion for the game. I hope that this event will raise a lot of money for Helen’s charity which continues to support so many local cancer patients and their families.”

'An Evening with Sir Trevor Brooking'’ is being held at Colchester United Football Club at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in Colchester.

It is hosted by Dave Monk from BBC Essex and the evening also includes a three course dinner and live music plus the chance to bid for some exclusive auction prizes.

Tickets are only £50 each - call 08456 80 20 47 or email for more information.
