"We told them to carry on as they had been doing because, when we got our passing game going, they found it difficult to contend with the way that we played.
"Their second goal came just before half time and so it was a good test of the lads' mentality having been pegged back at that time.
"The lads did well. They passed the ball and played how we wanted them to play," he told the official website.
And, having won 3-2, U's player coach Karl Duguid believed that the team could have won by more.
Having raced into a two goal lead in the first half, they were pegged back just before the break, but stood strong to be the team to run out winners by the time the final whistle arrived.
