Winger signs new three year contract.
Colchester United are delighted to confirm that winger Drey Wright has signed a new deal with the club, with his new contract running until the summer of 2016.
Drey's first professional deal was due to expire next summer and, after an outstanding first year in the U's first team, boss Joe Dunne has moved quickly to secure the flying winger to a longer term contract.
Still only 18, the teenager's performances out wide last season saw him land the U's Young Player of the Year award, capping a great debut season.
"Doing well enough to earn a new contract is something I'd hoped for as soon as I got my first deal," Drey said.
"I knew at that point I hadn't achieved anything yet, so it's good to know that after a good season, I've done enough to get this contract.
"I learned a lot from being in dressing rooms on highs and lows and we're all stronger for it now.
"The experience will do me well for the future, and now I just want to play more and score more goals for the team."
