Second test for U's squad
The U's face Witham town on Thursday night.
Wednesday night saw them beat Heybridge Swifts 2-1, with players getting forty five minutes of match time under their belt.
It will be the second game in twenty four hours, and the second of the scheduled pre-season fixtures, for Joe Dunne's squad.
"They'll all get another half a game each at Witham and I expect them to cover plenty of ground and keep a high level of intensity about the game."
It will be a similar scenario at Spa Road, with Dunne expecting his squad to keep a high tempo throughout the game.
He left Scraley Road on crutches and Dunne said:"It was a bad tackle and was frustrating and disappointing that Craig was caught like that."
A player who won't be in action against Witham is Craig Eastmond, who was stretchered off at Heybridge following a crude challenge.
"We want to see these matches played in the right spirit and I'd like to think that players on both sides in the upcoming friendlies show that spirit."
"I'm keen for these pre-season matches to achieve what we want them to achieve and if players are on the treatment table, they can't be increasing their fitness levels or working on what we want from them ahead of the season."
