Alex Can't Wait

27 March 2013

U's midfielder looking forward to loan.

He told the website: "I can't wait to get going and to get to know the players at Newport.

Up to ten games are available for the all action midfielder in his time with Justin Edinburgh's men and he is itching to get started on Thursday night against Gateshead.

U's midfielder Alex Gilbey can't wait to get started with Newport County after signing a loan deal with the Welsh side on Wednesday.

"This is going to be a massive change for me and the first time that I've been away from Colchester United, so it's going to be a big learning curve.

"But I've spoken to some of the young lads that have been here on loan from other clubs to get their views and they've told me exactly what to expect.

"I’ve also spoken to the senior pros here like Kem, who obviously came out from Charlton at a young age on loan, and they've been really helpful with what they’ve told me to expect and how I should get myself ready."

A full interview with Alex will be in Friday's match programme for the game against Bournemouth, along with Richard Hall's thoughts on the positives around his move to County.
