U's Accept Jabo Ban

7 March 2013

Ibehre to miss three matches

The U's will not be appealing against Jabo Ibehre's red card.

It came in the game at Hartlepool on Tuesday night and most people present thought it was a harsh decision.

Boss Joe Dunne has seen the incident numerous times since, and re-read the wording in the rulebook and has decided that an appeal won't be forthcoming.

He told cu-fc.com: "The wording in the description of what constitutes a red card makes it difficult for us to appeal it."

"I honestly still feel it was a harsh decision as there was no intent to endanger the opposing player but there's nothing in the wording about intent.

"Should the appeal have been deemed frivolous, we could have seen Jabo out for four matches and I didn't want to risk that."

Ibehre will miss the games against Crewe, Coventry and Bury, before becoming eligible again for the match against his former club MK Dons.
