U's Fall To Cardiff

18 March 2013

Drey goal not enough for U's U21s.

The home side could have doubled their advantage not long afterwards, with Tosin Olufemi - fresh from his first team debut against Bury at the weekend - cutting in from the other flank and forcing a good stop out of the Cardiff shot stopper.

Drey put the U's in front early on, as he cut in off the wing and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner beyond the despairing goalkeeper.

A Drey Wright goal was not enough for the U's U21s on Monday afternoon, as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Florence Park in their latest league fixture.

However, Cardiff went further in front just before half time, as an effort was slotted past the helpless Phillips after he had initially made a great save.

The visitors drew level on the half hour mark as a cross from the right was tucked home at close range, before Shaun Phillips pulled off a good stop to prevent a quick fire second.
The U's U21s only have four home games left now - three of which will be played at Florence Park.

And Cardiff took full advantage, grabbing the killer third as the ball was put home amidst a goalmouth scramble.

As the second half unfolded, the U's had a number of shots on goal, only to be denied by some good saves and unfortunate deflections.

The remaining games are:- Brighton (FP, 1pm March 25th), QPR (FP, 1pm, April 15th), Ipswich Town (WHCS, 7pm April 22nd), Brentford (FP, 1pm April 30th).
