Try your hand at a new sport on Friday.
Started by Coach Ben Hall who played competitively whilst living in Cambridge. He realized there were no teams in Essex; the team has gone from strength to strength since it was formed with the offer of free taster session drawing in new converts every month.
Colchester now has its very own Korfball team to represent the town and surrounding areas in matches and tournaments.
Colchester Wildcats Korfball Team are coming to the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Good Friday - and will give you the chance to try the town's newest sport!

The sport of Korfball which is of Dutch origin can be compared to basketball and netball delivering fast paced matches requiring skill, stamina and teamwork.
What makes Korfball different is it is played as a mixed sport at a competitive level with rules governing the interaction between the four men and four women in each team.
Ben aims to:
"To establish a club with strong membership and then facilitate the formation of other teams in the area."

Members are drawn from all around the Colchester area some joining for the chance of competition in league matches, some for a chance to keep fit in a social and relaxed environment.
The team has already attended the Cambridge Korfball Tournament in January which was the team’s first taste of matches. Colchester Wildcats is a fun and inclusive club where just about anyone with an interest in finding out more about this Dutch sport is welcome.
However, the Wildcats will still be looking for more new players and they will still be welcome at training after the 2nd of April.
The Sportivate sessions have proven to be very popular with new people turning up every week; the Wildcats have two more sessions to go these will be on the 26th of March and the 2nd of April.
In fact Ben has partnered his team up with Active Essex a local sports program to provide free taster sessions for 14-21 year olds wanting to give Korfball a try.
The very nature of Korfball is inclusive and this is a principle Ben looks to build his team around, there’s room for everyone at the Wildcats.
