Bike Show A Success

13 May 2013

Thousands descend on WHCS.

A staggering 2,000 bikers descended on Weston Homes Community Stadium, home of Colchester United, for the Essex Motorcycle Show, sponsored by Fentons Solicitors on Sunday 5th May, making it the most successful show to date.

There was plenty of entertainment to amuse the crowds throughout the day including; live music from Squabbler, plus two exciting and informative performances by the Essex Dog Display Team.

There were numerous trade stands by major manufacturers including Parkinson Motorcycles, T K Cope Motorcycles, Newcombe Bros and Cannon Motorcycles.

Several bikers took part in the motorcycle dexterity test, testing their slow riding and concentration, plus many bikers took the opportunity for a free ride out on one of the latest demo bikes supplied by local dealers, and having their riding assessed by qualified instructors.

The sun was shining and a great day was had by all with fun activities for all the family including inflatable fun for the children. Visitors were even treated to special flyovers by the Air Ambulance and Police Helicopters.

The event also saw the official media launch of the 14th annual Essex Air Ambulance Motorcycle Run on Sunday 8th September.

Trust Events Manager Wendy Marcon of Essex Air Ambulance was joined by headline sponsors Woodland Group and Cofunds for official photographs.

Volunteers were on hand at the Essex Air Ambulance stand to sign people up for the Motorcycle Run and 200 bikers took the opportunity to pre-register.

All bikers that pre-register for the event are automatically entered into a prize draw to win the star prize; £1,500 worth of Ducati performance kit courtesy of Parkinson Motorcycles.

Wendy Marcon, Trust Events Manager of Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust, said: "We are delighted with the runaway success of this year’s Essex Motorcycle Show, working in partnership with Essex Police.

"The sun shone and it was so encouraging to see as many as 2,000 bikers and families turn out to support the event, making it the best show yet! The show raises vital funds for Essex Air Ambulance and an incredible £4,200 was raised on the day.

"Thank you to all the exhibitors, our sponsors and partners for the Motorcycle Run and to the motorcycle community for their continued dedication and support towards the county’s life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service."
