Stadium to host its first ever concert.
Elton is undeniably one of the most acclaimed and adored solo artists of all time, instantaneously recognisable and cherished by his fans worldwide.
Colchester United are delighted to confirm that globally renowned artist Elton John will become the first person to hold a concert at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
"I’ve been all around the world and I truly enjoy playing my music for fans everywhere I can, but I do so look forward to coming back home to England, especially every summer when I get to perform in places I have never played before, like Colchester."
The dates will include number one hits and classic songs from his remarkable 40 year career, including tracks from his recently praised album 'The Diving Board' described by The Independent as "An album that may be the best of his career".
Tickets for the shows will go on sale Friday 8th November at 9am.
He recently became the recipient of the first ever BRIT Icon Award.
With an unparalleled career that spans five decades, Elton John is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time with 35 gold and 25 platinum albums, 29 consecutive Top 40 hits and an incredible 250-million records worldwide.
Yet his lifetime achievements are greater than just those of a successful recording artist.
Through a partnership with lyricist Tim Rice came the music for the feature film and Broadway stage production of 'The Lion King.'
He wrote the music for the stage production of 'Billy Elliot: The Musical' and more recently for the box office smash, 'Gnomeo & Juliet.'
In 2011 returned to Las Vegas for a three year residency with his brand new show ‘The Million Dollar Piano’, billed as “a gargantuan feast of music and imagery”.
Plans are now under way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1973 released album 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' later this year with a film project based on his life set for release in 2014.
