BBQ absent, but set to return in the future.
Colchester United’s hugely successful pre-match barbeque will be absent at Saturday’s game against Walsall – but it is hoped that it will be back in action soon as the U’s look to build on the positive start to the season’s pre-game entertainment.
The barbeque, which has sold thousands of locally produced meat products since its debut in the pre-season friendlies in the summer, will not be used this weekend, but is expected to return in the future.
“We have been really pleased with how popular the barbeque has been since we launched it in the summer,” Head Chef Karl Smith said.
“It will be on a temporary break this weekend, but we are looking at options for housing it outside the South Stand more permanently, now that the weather is starting to change.”
The South Stand bar area will still be open pre-match on Saturday, with doors opening at 12.30pm.
