Shrewsbury game sees further new names.

The U's picked up a creditable draw on Tuesday night as they shared the spoils with Shrewsbury Town at the Greenhous Meadow.

Elliot Lee, who had arrived earlier in the day from West Ham, played 73 minutes before being replaced by fellow loanee Jeffrey Monakana for the remainder of the game.

The match also saw another youth team product graduate into senior football.

This season has already seen Tosin Olufemi, Alex Gilbey, Drey Wright and Freddie Ladapo feature in first team football, whilst Sammie Szmodics recently made his first team debut at Bristol City.

They were joined by powerful striker Macauley Bonne, as he came on for the first time with around six minutes remaining at Shrewsbury to become the 799th player to represent the club.

Macauley joined the U's from Ipswich Town as an U14s striker and has been prolific in front of goal since then.

Since first appearing in the U18s, he has made 54 appearances for the U's, and has scored 46 goals in that time.

That included ten in two FA Youth Cup games this season and, like Sammie, his early season form at youth team level has earned him the chance to be involved with Joe Dunne's first team.
