Bolton defender joins on a month's loan.
Colchester United are pleased to confirm the arrival of Bolton Wanderers defender Cian Bolger on a month's loan.
The Republic of Ireland U21s defender has joined the U's to cover the injury problems that have ruled out centre halves Tom Eastman and Josh Thompson amongst others in recent weeks.
Cian, who is 21, has plenty of experience of league football, having played 49 times across three loan spells with Bristol Rovers.
That time with Rovers came whilst Cian was with Leicester City, but he signed for Bolton in the January transfer window earlier this year.
He has largely spent his time with the Wanderers development squad, taking the captain's armband on occasion.
The 6ft 4in centre half has also represented his country at U21s level and will go straight into the U's squad for the game against Peterborough United this weekend.
