Indoor Pitch On Target

12 December 2014

U's new ball court taking shape.

Colchester United's indoor ball court is taking shape and on target for the upcoming assessment by the Premier League.

The U's were told as part of their Category Two grading that they needed to provide an appropriate quality indoor surface before the end of 2014.

Plenty of work has taken place over the last couple of months to ensure that the court is good to go.

Chairman Robbie Cowling said: "The build has been about three months, which is remarkably quick, but we are working to the deadline set by the Premier League.
"We have also done a lot of work on the pavilion, because it is very old and in a rundown state and wasn't up to the standard required for Category Two.

We'll bring you more on the development as it reaches completion.

"The professionals will be in there if there's snow or we need to protect the pitches over at Florence Park. And we’ll have the younger groups using it so the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham will be here."

"All of our groups will use it.
