Swans Defeat Young U's

9 December 2014

2-0 reverse in South Wales.

Colchester United's U21s fell to a 2-0 defeat against Swansea on Monday night in their latest Development League game.

A young U's side travelled to Wales to take on the Swans, who were eight games unbeaten before the match kicked off.

That confidence saw the home side break the deadlock after just seven minutes. Modou Barrow was the provider, sending over a cross to James Loveridge, who tucked home past James Bransgrove.

Bransgrove pulled off a fine save from Giancarlo Gallifuoco to ensure the lead wasn't extended, whilst Byron Lawrence came close to levelling things with a curled shot from outside of the area.

Trailing by one at the break, Michael O'Donoghue's effort forced a good stop out of Oliver Davies early in the second half.

Kenji Gorre hit the woodwork for the home side, before Macauley Bonne saw a shot saved and his follow-up cleared off the line.

Lawrence clipped the top of the bar with fifteen minutes to go, before the Swans sealed victory five minutes from the end.

Substitute Henry Jones broke into the box and stayed calm to make it 2-0 and extend the Swans' unbeaten run.
