Eddie Welcomes Young Fans

20 February 2014

Fun afternoon at the Weston Homes.

On Monday afternoon, children from the Junior U’s club joined Eddie the Eagle at the stadium for a fun gaming afternoon.

From 3-6pm, children of all ages within the Junior U’s club were welcomed for free to join in the fun with Eddie the Eagle and volunteers from the club.

Both video and board games were included, giving the children the chance to interact with others of different ages as well as the chance to compete against Eddie himself!

There was great fun to be had, including Wii sports games, FIFA and Guess Who.

Some children played Eddie calmly at Guess Who (although we caught Eddie the Eagle sneaking a quick look at his competitor’s board!). Others tried their luck at FIFA and some fell to tackling Eddie with bean bags after he tricked them by tapping their shoulders and running!

We spoke to team mascot, Eddie the Eagle, after all the fun and games and he said: "It was nice to see so many young U’s fans come along to my Gaming afternoon yesterday! I really enjoyed having some friends to play FIFA, Wii Sports and also some great board games with.

"Eddie loves meeting with the fans at games and outside and can often be spotted around town. He asked (before we left him to carry on fixing up his nest after all the storms!) if we could spread the word for current and aspiring Junior U’s.
"Please keep your eyes out for Eddies Nest which is open most matchdays; full of activities and also for upcoming Junior U’s Events!"
