Hard To Beat

17 February 2014

Defence holds strong for eighth clean sheet.

The U's back line is now one of the hardest to beat in the division after yet another clean sheet at Swindon on Friday night.

The defensive set up has been a fairly consistent one in recent weeks and, despite being down to ten men for the last twenty minutes at the County Ground, they held firm to pick up a vital point.

That makes it eight clean sheets for the season so far and only seven teams have done better than that in League One this season.

What's more, the U's overall defensive record of having conceded 36 goals this season is the seventh best, both in terms of the current league table and when goals conceded per game played are taken into account.

Sam Walker has been the man between the sticks for every game this season and the match at Swindon saw him keep his fifteenth clean sheet in 50 Football League appearances for the U's.
