Massey Back In Action

29 January 2014

Forty-five minute stint for Gavin.

Gavin Massey has made a welcome return to match action.

He played forty-five minutes in a friendly against Ipswich Town on Wednesday afternoon.

Following Tuesday night's postponement against Shrewsbury, a full U's squad travelled across the border to face Town.

As in the early pre-season matches, the whole team was substituted for another eleven players at half time as the U's ran out 3-0 winners.

They were up against a young development side from Ipswich but coach Karl Duguid was pleased with the workout.

He said: "It was a useful exercise for us and it was important that the players got some match time under their belts.

"With the recent bad weather, it was also great for us to finally get Gavin Massey some game time after his injury and hopefully, there'll be no reaction.

"Freddie Sears also got some more minutes so we're looking stronger as a squad going into what will be a busy February schedule for us."
