He has made twenty appearances since he first signed last September, scoring three goals.
His latest loan contract wasn't due to run out until next month but Roberto Martinez has taken him back and is expected to name him in the Everton squad for the derby against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
U's boss Joe Dunne said: "We are delighted for Luke that Everton feel that he is ready to step into their first team squad.
"I believe he has progressed and developed as a player in his time at Colchester United and I'm sure everyone at the club, including the fans, would like to wish him well."
