Shots Of The Season

10 June 2014

Club photographer Richard Blaxall chooses his best photos of 2013/14.

The 2013/14 season was another campaign fulls of thrills and spills, highs and lows and plenty of drama along the way.

Watching every game through the lens of his camera was club photographer Richard Blaxall.

Richard was with the U's both home and away through the last nine or ten months and has captured plenty of iconic photos to reflect on the emotions involved.

"You certainly get an understanding of how difficult the previous week had been after the criticism of a heavy defeat, at the time, to a bottom of the table team but you also feel his relief of getting 3 points and on a more personal point for Sam, keeping a clean sheet."

"On this occasion, Sam was full of emotion. This was properly because of a 2-0 away win at Oldham after the previous weeks 4-0 home defeat to Notts County. Capturing moments of emotion is a huge part of my job and Sam's face here speaks a 1000 words.

"This means the majority of the time Sam Walker is producing his heroics at the other end of the pitch. However, at the end of every game without doubt, Sam will always salute the fans whatever the result – normally with a slight grin and a fist pump.

Richard said: "95% of first-team matches I aim to be as near to the oppositions goal as possible to ensure I get the best photos of the winning goal and/or celebration.
