The Last Time

18 June 2014

Twelve years since the U's got things underway at home.

The U's will begin the 2014/15 season at home, after the release of the club's fixture list on Wednesday morning.

Oldham Athletic, including former skipper Brian Wilson, will be the first visitors to the Weston Homes Community Stadium for the match on August 9th.

That match is the first where U11s can come for FREE in what promises to be an exciting season.

However, it is the first time in twelve years - and the first time since the move to WHCS - that we've begun a campaign on home territory.

Thomas Pinault was the U's hero that day, as they beat Stockport County 1-0 in front of a crowd of 3,300.

The enigmatic Frenchman smashed home from distance to give the U's a much needed positive start to the season.

Colchester's team that day was: McKinney, Warren, White, Johnson, Keith, Stockwell (Izzet), Bowry, Duguid, Pinault, McGleish (Coote), Rapley (Morgan)

The U's also finished the season at home, with Queens' Park Rangers the final day visitors, winning 1-0 with a goal from Paul Furlong.
