Wilson Signs For Latics

10 June 2014

Full back joins Oldham

He joins the Latics after four years at Colchester United, captaining the team in his final season in north Essex.

Brian Wilson has signed for Oldham Athletic.
"As I said, I enjoyed my time at Colchester but now I want to do at least as much at Oldham as I did there."

"It's a new chapter in my career and my life, with a another baby imminent, and I'm looking forward to starting at Oldham on June 26th.

"I have lived away from home since I was sixteen so that hasn't been a problem but I jumped at the chance to be back amongst family and friends again.

He sees it as a new challenge and there is an added bonus of it being near family.

He has signed a two year deal at Boundary Park, where he'll link up again with former teammate Lee Johnson, who now manages Oldham.

"There was a great bunch of lads in the squad and I wish them and the club all the best for the future."

He told the U's official website: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the U's, I wanted to stay but we couldn't agree terms."

U's boss Joe Dunne offered the thirty one year old a new contract but Wilson has now moved back to his native North West.
