U's players back local cancer charity's campaign.
Colchester United’s first team players have got behind a local charity to encourage the young men of Colchester to check out their testicular health.
U’s trio Alex Gilbey, Freddie Sears and Dominic Vose have leant their support to #CheckNominate, set up by The Robin Cancer Trust.
The club’s Media Manager Matt Hudson said: "With the upcoming Men’s Health Day at the stadium, the club are firmly behind all initiatives to support men’s health.
"The #CheckNominate campaign helps us reach younger males who might not otherwise realise that they have to keep an eye – and a hand! – on their wellbeing, so we were more than happy to help in this instance. We’d encourage all of our fans to #CheckNominate and help to spread the word."
The Men’s Health Day, organised by CHAPS, takes place at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Thursday March 27th and The Robin Cancer Trust will be in attendance on the day.
Toby Freeman of the charity said: "The Robin Cancer Trust are delighted that the Colchester United players have supported our #CheckNominate campaign and help reduce embarrassment felt in young men when talking about their privates.
"Their support could be the difference in saving a young man's life, prompting them to check themselves for the first time or visit their GP if they have any concerns."
