One of the U's finest goalscorers passes away.
Ken Plant, one of the U's finest goalscorers, has passed away.
The front man, who scored 84 goals for the U's after a £3,000 transfer from Bury, died at the weekend aged 88.
Ken played 197 games for the U's - placing him 41st on the all time appearance makers list - and was top scorer for the club in the 1954/55, 1956/57 and 1957/58 seasons.
His goalscoring record places him 9th on our all time goalscorers list and only four players have scored more than Ken in Football League fixtures for Colchester United.
Our thoughts are with Ken's family at this sad time - and we will have more on his career with Colchester United in the coming days.
