Elton John Parking

1 May 2014

Details confirmed for U's summer concert.

It is now only days until the Weston Homes Community Stadium and the town of Colchester welcome global superstar Elton John to play his first gig at the home of Colchester United.

A crowd of around 17,000 people are expected to descend on the Weston Homes to watch Elton in action on Sunday June 29th, in what will be one of Colchester’s biggest ever events.

Whilst the majority of tickets were snapped up by the people of the town, there will be thousands coming from further afield and the U’s, promoters Marshall Arts and the local authorities have put together an extensive travel plan to ensure that you can enjoy the day and get to and from the event in efficient fashion!

Over 8,000 parking spaces have been secured for the event, whilst the U’s will also be running a full shuttle bus service from Bruff Close, adjacent to Colchester train station.

All parking for the Elton John concert is now on sale and details for each of our car parking venues are on this page. It is strongly advised to book a parking spot in advance to ensure you are catered for on the day.

Parking Restrictions
Concert attendees should be aware that the immediate area around the Weston Homes Community Stadium is subject to a Parking Exclusion Zone.

Covering both existing Clearways and also nearby residential areas, these roads will be marshalled by Colchester United and Essex Police to prevent parking on roads not permitted under the Stadium Travel Plan.

Parking enforcement will be carried out, so you are advised to check signage and lines carefully. Note that the Clearway restriction is not marked by yellow lines - but is zoned within signs marked with a red cross on a blue background.

Clearway means that you cannot stop to load or unload passengers, wait or park, and the restriction applies to the disabled drivers "blue badge".

The following roads have a Clearway "No Stopping" restriction, which also extends to roadside verges and footways:

• Northern Approach Road;
• Boxted Road;
• Langham Road;
• Severalls Lane;
• Axial Way; and
• United Way.

Most other areas have either resident only parking restrictions or yellow lines. Residential areas subject to these restrictions include:-

* Mile End Road
* Nayland Road (particularly near the Dog & Pheasant pub)
* Turner Road
* Mill Road

Marshalls will also be monitoring nearby residential estates such as those leading off from Mill Road onto the 'Roman Place' development to encourage safe parking in those areas.

Please respect the resident areas near the ground.

Owners of any vehicles contravening the parking restrictions could be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice (£70).
