Shots Of The Season

13 May 2014

Club photographer Richard Blaxall chooses his best photos of 2013/14.

Richard was with the U's both home and away through the last nine or ten months and has captured plenty of iconic photos to reflect on the emotions involved.

Watching every game through the lens of his camera was club photographer Richard Blaxall.

The 2013/14 season was another campaign fulls of thrills and spills, highs and lows and plenty of drama along the way.

Add in the blue sky, white kit and Bond's facial expression this certainly made for an excellent start to the season.

Especially at away games I like to try and situate myself as near to the travelling fans as possible to be in the best place for situations like this.

Celebration photos are normally seen as the defining image of a game (if you win) and on this occasion this was the perfect scenario with Bond celebrating right in front of myself and the large travelling fans.

With the game seemly running out of time towards a 0-0 draw, Andy stepped off the bench and slotted home in-front of the travelling U's army.

The first game of the season is always presented with lots of anticipation for the season ahead. 1) Andy Bond scoring at Gillingham

Over the next few weeks, he'll be choosing his favourite fifteen photos and telling us why he particularly liked them. You can buy any of Richard's photos in a range of sizes and even on canvasses, by visiting .www.coluphotos.com
