Boss Happy With Sammie Deal

11 October 2014

Boss pleased to secure midfielder's future.

So far this season, Colchester United Academy products have made 32 first team starting and substitute appearances.

"He's a Colchester boy and, with it being his hometown club, he's thriving on that opportunity."

"Sammie has brought a youthful enthusiasm and energy into the midfield, but added to that with some quality.

"It is a sign of how we are progressing and bringing through our own young players, with Sammie joining Frankie Kent, Drey Wright and Alex Gilbey in the first team this season and with others also pushing.

"I'm pleased that Sammie has signed and committed himself to the club for the next three and a half years," he told the official website.

And Tony is pleased to have Sammie secured.

The homegrown midfielder, who has been with the U's since he was 7, penned a new three and a half year deal on Friday afternoon.

Colchester United boss Tony Humes is happy to have captured the signature of Sammie Szmodics on a new contract.
