Colchester United defender Josh Thompson has joined Tranmere Rovers on loan ahead of the weekend's fixtures.
His loan move will take him through to January 2015.
He has been training with the League Two side this week and is expected, subject to paperwork clearance, to be involved in the squad for their game at AFC Wimbledon this weekend.
Josh, who last played for the U's first team in September 2013 in the Johnstone's Paints Trophy, was made available for loan by boss Tony Humes recently - and Rovers have moved in to take the centre half.
