Blues Defeat The U's

29 September 2014

Four goals in lively second half.

U's looked like they might build on the recent win over Brentford and draw against Coventry City when Macauley Bonne headed them in front just after half time. The

Colchester United U21s' unbeaten run came to an end on Monday evening, as Birmingham City ran out 3-1 winners.

It's U21s Cup action for the U's next up, as they travel to Millwall in the First Round of the knock-out competition.

Dominic Vose got 79 minutes under his belt in his quest to stay sharp for first team action, whilst Drey Wright's own return to full fitness saw him get another ninety minutes in this latest U21s game.

The scoreline perhaps didn't reflect the opportunities and possession that the U's had had in the game, but the match would still have been a productive exercise for John McGreal's men.

But a quick fire double, including a penalty, put the home side in front at St Andrew's, before a lobbed effort from outside of the area completed the scoring for the home side.
